Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Re: Workplace Incident at the Come By Chance Oil Refinery

The last few days have been very stressful as we await more information on the injured workers from the refinery.

As part of our crisis management, we have decided to open our Union Hall at 89 McNamara Drive, Paradise on Monday September 5, 2022 at 1:00pm to provide support to all members. Members are encouraged to drop by the Hall to talk to your Business Reps and offer support to one another during this difficult time.

There will also be a Zoom meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening for all members. A Zoom link will be forwarded to all members prior to the meeting.

We will continue to keep you informed as information becomes available.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

RE: Workplace Incident Come By Chance Oil Refinery

On September 2, 2022 there was a serious workplace incident at the Come By Chance Oil Refinery that resulted in eight workers being injured and transported to hospital. Among these injured workers was a member of Local 1009.

At the time of the incident, there were thirty plus members of Local 579 and Local 1009 working onsite. The worksite is currently shut down to conduct a workplace incident investigation.

During this Labour Day weekend, let’s join together and offer support for the injured workers, their families and all workers affected by this stressful workplace event. I ask you  to keep all those affected in your thoughts and prayers.
